Just moved from Chris Hani Baragwanath Hospital (Soweto, the biggest hospital in the world and originally built in 1941 for convalescing British and Commonwealth soldiers) to Helen Joseph Hospital to start a new block.
As usual human resources are completely overwhelmed, in fact most resources are.
At least Helen Joseph has a roof and I don't have to run between wards getting stuck in the rain!
Buildings aside, the psyche and truth of my patients remains the same. Even amongst the decay I see everyday I am constantly reminded of the insatiable quest that lies within us all, ill or well, poor or rich, educated or not, that longing and holding out for hope.

A beautiful bouquet of honey flower, orange blossom, sweet vanilla, and musk notes
(The parfum has a different fragrance and although you might not notice the differance initially later you will. The toilette is better- the parfum goes a bit acidic. Every time I wear this people stop me saying I smell amazing!)

FAVOURITE THING TODAY
The Chanel Fall collection Le Vernis lacquer "Intermezzo" - it's creamy white with a slight shimmery pink sheen. Only problem, requires about 3 coats!

Studying Acute Kidney Failure today or should I say more recently termed, Acute Kidney Injury!
In the past it has been difficult to actually find criteria to define this but now you can either use the RIFLE criteria or AKIN, only time will tell which is best. Curious, all you med-students and doctors: Which do you find best in practice?

Tiramisu Cupcakes and Changing Tires
I was in a car accident last night!
Whilst driving home from this party I was at, I dropped a tiramisu cupcake I was bringing home for my sister (her fav). As I reached over to grab it I swerved into the curb and almost hit a tree! Thankfully I reacted in time and steered away just missing it but in the process scraping and popping two tires against the pavement!
So there I was in the halfway home all alone! Thankfully two young guys came to my rescue and changed the tires! What would we girls do without guys?
Lesson 1, forget cupcake.
Lesson 2, realize that it’s not always better being Miss Independent, it’s the most wonderful thing having men around to help when you’re the damsel in distress.
Lesson 3 and most importantly, learn to change a tire!

I'd describe my style as mostly a mix of native american and high street, Cavalli yet casual. Tonight I'm off to a party in Westcliff - wearing a plain white 'tank-top' ribbed dress with loads of accessories, a leather jacket and my black stiletto gladiators (started my obsession with these when I saw Sex and the City, the movie)!
